Whilst Morzine is best known for its outstanding downhill skiing in the exquisite surroundings of the Portes du Soleil, it is not just a one trick pony. Though plenty of our guests choose to pound the slopes all-day every day from first to last lift, there are lots of other activities available if you want a break from skiing or just fancy trying something different. We’ve compiled a list of our favourites which will allow you to immerse yourself into the authentic local culture and to create memories to treasure forever with your family and friends.
We encourage our guests to pick and choose from our favourites and our in-house concierge will do the rest.
We’ll introduce you to our most trusted ski instructors who will take you out for a day of skiing like none you’ve ever experienced. They’re all experts at their different disciplines and always delighted to welcome newcomers and old hands alike. Perhaps you’d like to work up a sweat ski touring or on a picturesque, treelined cross-country skiing trail. Or maybe you’ve always liked the idea of skiing off-piste, but you’ve never had the knowhow or the confidence to go it alone in an unfamiliar area. Our ski instructors and guides will ensure you have a great day learning new skills and having fun with your family and friends.
Snow shoeing offers a fun, easy and aerobic workout as you traverse unspoilt alpine woodlands and head up to the mountain peaks. Whilst skiing is fast paced and adrenaline fuelled, snow shoeing offers you the chance to take in the spectacular scenery, take a couple of hours for yourself and unwind. It’s also a great option for any bad weather days on the higher slopes, as you can stay tucked down in the shelter of the valleys out of the worst of the weather.
If you can face leaving the cosy comfort of our luxury chalets in the evening, you can ski beneath the stars on the Pleney slope. A magical experience not to be missed!
On the chalet day off, why not venture up to Avoriaz to enjoy an evening unlike any other. As night falls and the pistes close, enjoy a sundowner cocktail and nibbles followed by a traditional Savoyard fondue in a beautifully sculpted Igloo. Handcrafted by locals, the Igloo is different in design each year. This promises to be an unforgettable moment, surrounded by picturesque snow-capped mountains and breath-taking panoramas.
Watch the alpine scenery whizz by, as you’re pulled along a perfectly groomed track on your skis, by a horse or pony using a specially designed harness. Accessible to all: thrill seekers can gallop ahead, whilst others enjoy a trot at a leisurely pace. A truly unique experience and different way to see the Alps.
Fly high in the sky and experience the stunning scenery of magnificent Morzine and the Portes du Soleil from above. Experience the peace and tranquillity as you soar above the mountains on thermal currents. Many of the instructors have a special bond with the eagles found in these mountains, tempting them to fly alongside you for an unforgettable experience.
However, this list is far from exhaustive. Let us know what you and your loved ones enjoy and we will help you to indulge your passions with a bespoke holiday, tailor made especially for you. That is the Freedom Experience.
